Brown tops round three of East Antrim Trail Series

Round three of the East Antrim Harriers Trail Series saw newly re-signed Larne AC member James Brown take victory in 19.08. Andy Gregg was eighth in 20.43, securing a series win in the Vet 45 category.

Martan Keane finished 12th (21:31), with Nigel Kane, Raymond Bannon and Ian McCluggage close behind in 15th (21.43), 16th (21.49) and 19th (21.53) respectively.

Completing the top 40 were Bobby Boal, 28th (23:33), Andrew Beattie, 30th (23:46), Ian Brennan, 37th (24.28) and Emmett Woods, 40th (24:44). Bert Shaw was 41st (25.02), while Dan Magill was 44th (25:27). David Woods finished 52nd (27:07) and second in the Male U20 category.

First lady home for Larne was Laura Simpson in 56th overall (27.29). Bernie Regan, in 59th place (28:00), secured a series win in the Vet 55 category.

Hill and Dale Series

Larne AC’s Dale and Laura Smith took part in race nine of the Hill and Dale Series on Thursday evening with pleasing results.

In a field of 160 runners Dale worked hard and was crossed the line in 26th place in a time of 35:28. Laura clocked 46:43, 120th overall, achieving second place in her category.

The race was won by Seamus Lynch of Newcastle AC in a time of 28.23. Diane Wilson won the ladies’ race in 33.49, 17th overall.

Parkrun reports

Lorraine Wharry made her debut at the Ecos run, finishing in 25.11. Gabriel Rodgers and daughter Ashlynn finished in 26.29.

Robin Alexander ran 26.32 at Queen’s while Margaret Ferguson and son, Cian, finished in 43.07 at Portrush. Derek Reid and son, Ollie, finished just behind in 43.26.

Davy Henderson completed the Antrim parkrun in 24.44 and Emily Boal tackled the new Comber event, finishing in 28.17.
