Brown Trout sees Christmas Bonanza Day played...finally!

The long awaited Christmas Bonanza Day was eventually played at the weekend after being postponed on two previous occasions due to the inclement weather.

With the Brown Trout open and in good playing conditions escaping the snow that left other local courses closed.

With all members reverting back for the day off their Summer handicaps.

Immediate past Captain Denis James (24) left everyone trailing in his wake with an incredible score of 48 points!

Denis amassed 25 points over the first nine after shooting five over par forty gross before adding 23 the highlights being three pars at holes 2, 7 and 16 where he had double shots thus scoring four points at each!

Away back by seven shots two players ended up with 41 points each and after the tiebreak Johnnie Kearns (9) took the runner-up prize. after opening with a birdie at the first hole Johnnie scored 17 front nine points.

He completed the second in one under gross and with the help of birdies at holes 10,12 and 14 added another 24 just edging out club secretary Robert Orr (12) who also ended up with 41 points.

Robert completed the first nine in two over which included a birdie two at the fourth with 22 points and then added a further 19 back nine points to claim third prize.

Two other members finished only a point back with 40 points each, with former green keeper Ronnie Engall (16) taking the fourth prize with a better second nine than David Milliken (18) Ronnie failing to add to his score at the fourthhole proving costly.

Ronnie had nines of 17 and 23 and David played steady golf with 20 points each nine.

Completing the top ten in sixth place Tom Boyd (9) scoring nines of 20 and 19, seventh Club Vice Captain Mark Dempsey (21) 21 and 18, Trevor Cupples (18) with the help of a hole-in-one at the ninth took eighth spot with the best of three returns of 38 points each, scoring 15 and 23 Ronnie Milliken (5) ninth nines of 16 and 22. Completing the top ten Ryan Smyth (16) scored 17 and 21.

The remainder of the participants all received prizes presented by recently appointed Club Captain for 2013 Gary Hamilton.

The prizes for the recently completed “Star Fuels” sponsored Winter League were also presented by Club Captain Gary to the various winners.
