Bushmills edge out Glebe in seven goal thriller

Fortunately the weather was kind during Friday night resulting in only one Intermediate and one Junior game being lost to wet grounds on Saturday.

INTERMEDIATE

LEAGUE

CARNINY AMATEURS 0 v 1 RACEVIEW

After a good start to the game both teams tended to cancel each other out until the first real chance in the game went to Raceview when awarded a penalty on the 42nd minute.

At this time Carniny had a man sent off for a deliberate hand-ball on the goal line then Jordan Lemon missed from the spot to leave the teams still level at half-time. Raceview were early on the attack in the second half taking the lead after Stefan Calderwood scored on the 55th minute and went on to hold this goal advantage until the final whistle. DUNLOY 1 v 4 NEWTOWNE

This was a big win for Newtowne but a very disappointing result for Dunloy who took an early lead through a goal scored by Kevin McAllister Newtowne got back on level terms after Stuart McCallum scored on the 28th minute and then went in front after Rory O’Reilly converted a penalty on the 42nd minute. The second half saw Dunloy go all-out to get the equalising goal but Newtowne held firm then hit Dunloy with a couple of sucker punches when Darren Henderson scored a brace of goals on the 87th and 89th minutes. The result of this game was decided in the first 17 minutes after Ballymoney went three goals clear.

Ballymoney took the lead after Jon McCormick scored on the 2nd minute then this being followed by a brace of goals scored by Mark Dempsey on the 12th and 17th minutes. After this there were chances for both teams but alas no more goals were scored.

RED STAR 2 v 4 RASHARKIN UNITED After Extra Time

Rasharkin were pushed all the way in this game and with eight minutes of normal time remaining they trailed by the odd goal in three.

Rasharkin took the lead on the 12th minute after Jordan Craig scored but then saw Ricky Thompson equalise on the 15th minute and after this it was a very level game until Glenn Williams scored on the 44th minute putting Red Star in front at half-time.

The second half saw Rasharkin go all-out for the equaliser but Red Star held firm until the 82nd minute when Sammy McConaghie scored the Rasharkin equaliser to take the game into extra time. Rasharkin were a bit stronger in the extra time with goals on the 92nd from Lee Barr and Nathan Patton on the 100th minutes they progress to the next round.

Bushmills went two goals clear in this game with goals scored on the 20th and 31st minutes giving them a two goal cushion at half-time.

An own goal on the 50th minute brought Glebe back into the game then a goal scored by Neil McVicker on the 78th minute saw them back on level terms.

Bushmills then restored their two goal advantage with goals on the 80th and 85th minutes before Steven McCook scored a third for Glebe on the 90th minute.
