Busy times for Magherafelt martial arts club

LOCAL martial arts club Jan Ling Freestyle Kung Fu & Kickboxing Club are going from strength to strength and have a busy schedule coming up

Fighters from the club are currently in training for the Northern Ireland WKC Championships in Claudy on 28 February. Fighters who are successful in this tournament will be invited to represent the WKC Northern Ireland Kickboxing team in the World Championships in Algarve Portugal on 28 October - 2 November.

On 6-7 March the club will also be represented at the Irish Open International held in the New City West Conference Centre Dublin.

This tournament is among the biggest in Europe and already confirmed are five teams from USA, 12 teams from England, seven from Italy, three from Germany and Norway and two from France and Hungary. Tournament organiser Roy Baker donates all profits to charity, this years beneficiaries are ISPCC.

It doesn't stop there though, and the club will travel to Derry to compete in the WKA N.Ireland Championships on Sunday 21 March. Success in this tournament will mean a trip to Edinburgh on 23 October to compete in the WKA World Championships for the Northern Ireland WKA Kickboxing team.

Completing a hectic two months, fighters will compete for a place in the WAKO Irish National Kickboxing team when they travel to Dublin on Sunday 28 March to compete in the National eliminations, the opportunity to represent team Ireland in Athens, Greece at the WAKO European Championships in November awaits any winning competitors.

This does not see the end of the tournaments for the club as they already have nine more tournaments confirmed from April and are expecting more
