Cambridge House girls progress in Junior Plate

CAMBRIDGE House’s under-14 XI advanced to the second round of the Junior Plate with a 1-0 win over Coleraine High School last week.

Coleraine started strongly and applied pressure to the Cambridge defence, but with Leah Harkin and Clara Duffy clearing the ball wide to the wings they were unstoppable.

Cambridge goalkeeper Jessica McMillen was also on top form, saving many Coleraine shots on goal.

Cambridge House midfielders Emma Heron, Lois Carey and Rebecca McPeake worked hard to supply the ball to the forwards. Unfortunately Cambridge could not get a goal in the first half.

The Ballymena girls started the second half strongly with good runs from Adeleine Carey and Rachel McCloy on the wings supplying some good balls to the circle.

Emma Heron dribbled the ball into the circle with a strong shot on goal but a good save came from the Coleraine Goalkeeper.

The only goal of the match came from an accurate pass from Emma Heron to Lois Carey who placed the ball in the back of the net to round off a good team performance overall.

The girls have thanked Mrs Drewitt for umpiring and Mrs McNeill, their hockey coach.
