Cambridge House look rusty after long lay-off

CAMBRIDGE House suffered an 11-0 defeat at the hands of Larne Grammar on Saturday.

Larne caught CH cold with all 11 points in the first eight minutes against a rusty-looking Ballymena side who hadn’t played a match since November 13 due to the inclement weather and the school hosting exams

A try after two minutes followed by two close range penalties gave Larne the confidence to retain the upper hand with the breeze at their back and territorial advantage in the first half. To their credit CH regained a semblance of their team structure and began to get a foothold in the match.

The second half was an even affair with both sides having opportunities to breach the game line but not quite able to take it.

CH are off to Rome for a four day tour next week, with two matches against local schools and this should regain the level of play they had reached recently.

They follow this with a match against an Ulster under 19 side before embarking upon their Schools’ Cup campaign in early January.

Second XV result: Larne Grammar 0, Cambridge House 14.
