Cambridge House Show Jumping teams enjoying successful year

THE SHOW jumping teams at Cambridge House have been enjoying a run of success so far this year and they have some new pupils in Year 8 who have joined the teams this year and have definitely made their presence felt.

It started at the Interschools’ competition at Balmoral on Saturday, October 1, where the Red Team (Emma McKay on Pride of Joy, Nikki McNeice on Little Miss Dynamite, Justine Harding on Harvest Mouse, Caitlin Foster on Hutch) won their Novice (85cm) class.

The White Team (Sarah-Jane Alexander on Crindle Miss Sunshine, Nicole Cameron on Roxy, Catherine McBurney on Sparky and Sarah-Jane Alexander on Oliver) also competed in the Open competition.

This great result was followed by the Red Team (Justine Harding on Harvest Mouse, Ami McNeice on Hilltop Thunder, Nikki McNeice on Little Miss Dynamite, Justine Harding on Present to You) winning the Intermediate class at the Meadows, Lurgan on Saturday, October 8, in the first leg of the Interschools’ League.

On Saturday, October 22, it was the first leg of the Interschools’ competition at Knockagh View, Greenisland. The school entered 3 teams this time, with The White Team (Courtney Wray on Shadow, Justine Harding on Present to You, Lindsay Cameron on Roxy and Nicole Cameron on Roxy) coming 2nd, particularly impressive given the age of three of the riders, who are all in Year 8.

The Green Team were close behind, coming 3rd (Emma McKay on Pride of Joy, Justine Harding on Harvest Mouse, Nikki McNeice on Little Miss Dynamite and Sarah-Jane Alexander on Crindle Miss Sunshine) and the Red Team (Kathryn Knox on Springvale Prince, Ami McNeice on Hilltop Thunder, Nicole Cameron on Shortcut and Catherine McBurney on Sparky) came a creditable 12th.

At the second leg of the Interschools’ competition at the Meadows on Saturday, October 12, the school entered two teams in the Intermediate competition.

The Red Team (Justine Harding riding Harvest Mouse, Ami McNeice riding Hilltop Thunder, Nikki McNeice riding Miss Dynamite and Sarah-Jane Alexander riding Hot Pursuit) came 3rd overall in the Intermediate class, building on their October win. The Green Team (Justine Harding riding Rough Terrain, Catherine McBurney riding Sparky, Sarah-Jane Alexander riding Princess Ita, Justine Harding riding Present to You) didn’t place but finished on four faults.

Sarah-Jane Alexander also did the school proud in the individual Open (1m) competition, winning the class on Princess Ita.

In the second round of the Interschools’ competition at Knockagh View on Saturday, November 19, the school again entered three teams.

This time, the Red Team (Kathryn Knox riding Springvale Prince, Ami McNeice riding Hilltop Thunder, Nicole Cameron riding Roxy, Courteney Wray riding Puzzle) won the Intermediate class, with the Green Team (Emma McKay riding Pride of Joy, Justine Harding riding Present to You, Nikki McNeice riding Little Miss Dynamite and Caitlin Foster on Hutch) placed 6th overall and the White Team (Courtney Wray riding Shadow, Justine Harding riding Present to You, Lindsay Cameron riding Roxy, Nicole Cameron riding Shortcut) coming a close 8th.
