Cambridge shine even in defeat

CAMBRIDGE House faced Dalriada on Saturday and did themselves credit by pushing the recent Schools' Cup semi-finalists all the way in a 13-8 defeat.

CH got off to a great start when the came up with one of their imaginative line out moves where second row Johnny Simpson fed in captain Matthew Harkness who scored in the corner. Timmy Small almost followed with a difficult conversion from the sideline.

The game flowed from end to end and in the 20th minute Small scored with a 30 yard penalty to increase the lead to 8–0. There was almost another try in the corner for CH when Jordan Robinson was stopped just short.

Right on half time Dalriada touched down in the corner after a prolonged attacking series with an excellent conversion from the full back taking the half time score to 8-7.

The second half saw Dalriada have territorial advantage but it took a penalty in the 60th minute before they led. CH only had sporadic time in the Dalriada half yet always looked potentially dangerous.

The final play saw the home full back give Dalriada their five point winning margin with another penalty.

CH will continue to grow in confidence and flankers Harkness, Mark Payne and number eight Kieran Bowes got through a noticeable amount of work.
