Camogie girls begin training

THE first session for Antrim Camogie Under 12 Development Squad in Ballycastle. With a high turnout from clubs right across Antrim - including Glenravel and Portglenone - it shows that there is a healthy appetite for Camogie and a desire by these girls to develop their skills and ultimately play Camogie for Antrim.

The session was primarily aimed at introducing as many girls to the County Camogie scene as possible. Paramount in the minds of the coaches was to gel the girls together as an Antrim squad and encouragement was given to ensure that girls partnered and trained with girls from other clubs and to build friendships with them.

The session concentrated on 4 skills – Catching & Passing, Lifting & Air Striking, Ground Striking, Blocking and finished with a conditioned game with the emphasis on the skills practised throughout the morning.
