Campbell’s men aim to make it three in a row

Having seen off Bangor and Dromore, they sit in third position behind Instonians and Clogher Valley, owing to these two having collected bonus point wins, but they face a stiff challenge this weekend when they visit CIYMS.

Along with the above three clubs, the Belmont lads are the only other Q1 side still unbeaten, so something will have to give when the teams clash in east Belfast on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, club stalwart, Eddie Laird, who has been an outstanding PRO for Ballyclare for an amazing 41 years, has handed over the pencil and notebook to David Campbell, the current fixtures secretary.

David is only the third person to hold this important post in the club’s 55-year history. Jack Coulter served in the role from 1949-1973.

Qualifying 1: Mallusk-based Academy RFC got their league campaign up and running with Saturday’s 21-15 victory over Randalstown.

Junior 6: At the Cottonmount on Saturday Ophir Seconds hosted lost 27-17 to their Holywood counterparts in Section 6 of the Ulster Branch Junior League.
