Captain Booth up for Carrick challenge

RAINEY Endowed 1st XV skipper Thomas Booth has set his side a target of reaching the quarter finals of the Schools Cup.

They may indeed be lofty ambitions for the Magherafelt outfit but Booth admitted that the side are confident of progressing to the next round.

“We are not focusing on anything else other than the threat of Carrick this Saturday. We have all set ourselves targets and we think we can get to the quarter finals. We are aiming high and we are looking forward to anything that the Schools Cup will throw at us.”

Rainey struggled at the start of the season to get any fluency in their play as a result of inconsistent team selections due to injuries.

“At the start of the season we were struggling with injury. We have a point to prove to other teams, that we have improved and that we are up for the challenge.

The game is going to be won up front on Saturday. It is up to us to meet the challenge of Carrick head on. The set-pieces will be crucial on Saturday and we are looking to dominate up front. We have put the hard yards in at training over the last few weeks. We are ready and prepared and we all can’t wait for Saturday!”
