Captain’s goal wins it for Rainey

Rainey girls firsts 3

LAST Saturday at Magherafelt High School Pitch, the Bryson’s Bar sponsored Rainey 1st XI girls faced Limavady in what they knew would be a really tight game.

The match started off with equal possession between both teams, but Rainey didn’t take long to dominate play in the early stages of the game. However Limavady made use of the breaks they got and managed to score a goal.

Rainey didn’t lose heart, and a few minutes later Jenna Bowman hit a beautiful shot into the circle which was deflected into the net by Tori Hastings, making the score 1-1 by half time.

Rainey improved their performance in the second half; however Limavady made another break scoring their second goal against the Rainey girls. Rainey were now more determined, with the whole team putting in more effort as this was a match they didn’t want to lose, this resulted in them winning a short corner.

From this, Tori Hastings scored her second goal with a fantastic shot into the corner.

With the win now within reach, Rainey kept pushing forward with Captain Maeve McNally scoring the third goal for Rainey shortly before the final whistle, giving Rainey a well-deserved win of 3-2.

Player of the Match was Tori Hastings, well done..
