Carniny U-12s progress to quarter final of NIBFA Cup

All Carniny Youth’s scheduled games survived the weather this week with eight games taking place.

The Under 12s were in fine goal scoring form when they comfortably dispatched Moira FC in the last 16 of the Northern Ireland Boys FA cup to progress to the quarter finals.

The boys were in fine scoring form with a four goal salvo from Lee Lynn and braces for Lewis Mearns, Aidan Graffin and Kyle Anderson.

Carniny Youth 6-2 Coleraine Academy: Leon Graham won the ball again and passed to Sam Magee who went past his man to fire home the first however the half ended 1-1.

A throw out from their keeper went straight to Neill who scored from 15y ards out 2-1. Cameron Moody’s cross it found it’s way to Graham whose shot was deflected back to Moody who scored from a tight angle. 3-1. Moody got his second of the day, he then shot high into the net for his hat trick, 5-1.

A Coleraine player dribbled through the Carniny defence to make it 5-2. Carniny weren’t finished and with the final attack, Kennedy found Magee who skipped past a player to score his second and make it 6-2.

Under 10s

Carniny Youth 3, Coleraine Academy 5: On the 12th minute Millar opened the scoring with his persistence and hard work created the chance and he finished to make the score 1 nil. Coleraine were dangerous and they equalised on the 14th minute then made the score 2-1, credit to the Carniny lads the battled hard and and it was McPeake on the stroke of halftime equalised half-time 2-2.

In the second half Millar scored his second and Carniny’s third they pushed for more but it was Coleraine who scored next. With four minutes remaining Coleraine scored their 4th from a corner Carniny pushed hard for an equaliser and Coleraine aided by the strong wind scored again 5-3.

Carniny Youth 1-5 Don Boscos: Despite missing a host of players for the tie, they deservedly took the lead after neat interplay, and Adger was on hand with the finish. Boscos eventually found an equaliser and then took the lead from a corner. Carniny tired, and with no available substitutes, Boscos added gloss to what had been a fairly even game with late finishes.

NIBFA Cup 4th Rnd

Carniny Youth 11-1 Moira FC: On 15 minutes when Lynn finished well to open the scoring. Mearns got a goal of his own to make it 2-0. Moira got one back to make it 2-1. Carniny got their 3rd almost straight from kick off with a cool finish by Graffin making it 3-1. Lynn then crossed for Anderson to make it 4-1.

Moore on the right then turned provider with a great cross for Lynn to finish at the back post to make it 5-1 at half time. Graffin got his second with a great low strike to make it 6-1. Lynn then got his hat trick with a great strike into the bottom corner to make it 7-1. Carniny’s eighth came way of an unfortunate OG to make it 8-1. Lynn got his 4th and Anderson his second to end a great 11-1.

Carniny Youth 0-4 Oxford Utd: Oxford scored two in quick succession. Carniny had to dig deep to tighten up the midfield and with this had some good possession but were unable to take any of their chances. With the game in the closing stages Oxford added a fourth to take the points.

Under 14s

Carniny Youth 1-3 Crusaders: In the 20th minute when Marshall received a square ball from Scullion out on the left and powered home from 20 yards to give Carniny a well deserved lead. A rare mistake on the left let Crusaders in just before half time to send the teams in level at the interval.

Carniny’s task was harder when the Crues went a goal up on 40 mins. Crusaders took control of the game and went 2 up then minutes later.

Under 15s

Carniny Youth 0 - 4 Bangor FC: This was undoubtedly Carniny’s worst performance of the season. They were outplayed by a slick Bangor side on the superb 3G surface at Clandeboye Park. The All Blacks simply never got going.

Carniny Youth 1-2 Limavady Youth: From a corner a superb ball into the penalty box by Alex Platt was met by Matthew Shevlin who stooped low to head into the net. In the second half a Limavady free kick the ball was played into the area where a Limavady defender out jumped the Carniny defence to head in off the post. Carniny conceded a second goal a short time later.
