They were away to NIBA Division 3 leaders Markethill and, although they fought hard, the home side won in the end picking up two-and-a-half points to Carrick’s one-and-a-half.

Norman Porter’s rink were two up going into the last end but dropped a two so just got the draw. It’s the third time this season that luck has not been with Norman on the last end, failing twice before by one shot each time.

Kenny Peoples’ rink again produced the goods with a solid win. At one stage they led 13 -3 but finished with a five-shot victory.

The Nicholl rink were up against very good opposition and it was nip-and-tuck with some really strong bowls being played. It proved to be an even match until the 17th end when the opposition skip trailed the jack for a four. From then on it was an uphill battle and the Carrick quartet finished eight shots down.

Carrick’s remaining rink were up against it from the start after the home team got ahead quickly and they stayed there untill the end. This weekend Carrickfergus juniors are at home to Clarendon.
