Carrick gear up for Lisburn, Larne men set to host PSNI

The men in red slumped to a 10-3 home defeat at the hands of Enniskillen last time out, and will be aiming for a positive result against a Lisburn side who have won just two league games from six.

Fourth-placed Carrick have 14 points on the board - just three behind Coleraine in second, and five away from leaders Omagh.

But the gap between the local side and the current pace-setters was exposed last month when the Mellon Park outfit swept them aside on a 35-5 scoreline in the Junior Cup.

Carrick bounced back seven days later with a win at Randalstown, only to lose out to Enniskillen in a weather-beaten encounter at Tom Simms Memorial Park.

At the start of the campaign skipper Jonny Cullen said he’d like to see Carrick “up around the top three teams challenging for the league”. If they are to kick on this side of Christmas, they will need a big response at Eglantine Road.

Larne to face PSNI

Meanwhile, Larne return to league action on Saturday when they host PSNI.

Ryan Garrett’s side occupy third spot in Qualifying Three and a win would see the Glynn men open up a gap ahead of their opponents who are fourth.

It may be the middle of November but Larne have only played two league games - both of which they have won.

A 13-8 win over Limavady at the beginning of October was followed by a 74-10 win away to Donegal Town.

Larne were set to face Newry on November 1, but the match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
