But the visitors had to work hard to secure all three points with both teams locked on a 1-1 score line until late in the game.

Carrick found themselves under considerable pressure during the opening stages of the game and in spite of holding out until late in the half, Dromore eventually found a gap in their defences to take the lead. A more evenly balanced second half saw chances fall to both sides but as the game entered its final phases, Dromore went ahead again and Carrick were unable to respond for a second time.

This weekend Carrick are back in action as they travel to runaway leaders Mossley (Friday, 18:45).

Meanwhile, Greenisland Ladies suffered their eleventh defeat in 14 outings when they lost 4-1 at home to Owls. The local side is bottom the table, while Owls’ three points saw them climb up to fifth spot.

Greenisland won’t have it easy this weekend either as they make the trip to third-placed Priorians. Owls entertain Northern Ireland Civil Service and a win would see them go six points clear of their opponents.
