But the visitors had to work hard to secure all three points with both teams locked on a 1-1 score line until late in the game.

With their midfield playmaker Christine Waide unavailable and first choice sweeper Julie Willis out injured, Carrick were forced to make some late changes to their line up, bringing in Lauren McDowell, Jeni Leigh Patterson, and Sarah McAtamney to bolster their squad.

Carrick found themselves under considerable pressure during the opening stages of the game and in spite of holding out until late in the half, Dromore eventually found a gap in their defences to take the lead. But deep into first-half stoppage time, Rachel Lynas popped up at the far post to score for her sixth successive match and level the contest.

A more evenly balanced second half saw chances fall to both sides but as the game entered its final phases, Dromore went ahead again and Carrick were unable to respond for a second time.

Meanwhile, Greenisland Ladies suffered their eleventh defeat in 14 outings when they lost 4-1 at home to Owls. The local side is bottom the table, while Owls’ three points saw them climb up to fifth spot.

Greenisland won’t have it easy this weekend either as they make the trip to third-placed Priorians. Owls entertain Northern Ireland Civil Service and a win would see them go six points clear of their opponents.

Senior 1: Having turned around two down, a Lorraine Ashcroft strike early in the second half revived Ballyclare Ladies’ hopes of getting something from their clash with Raphoe, but the Donegal girls weighed in with two late strikes to seal a 4-1 win.

A Jenna Maxwell-Oliphant double secured Saturday’s 2-1 win for Parkview Ladies at the expense of their Malone.

After building up a two-goal advantage at Strathern College grounds, Tammy Gamble’s girls conceded a late strike but held out in Saturday’s Senior Plate clash.
