Dromore’s ability to get more bodies into the circle that eventually proved to be Carrick’s undoing. And nowhere was this more apparent than in Dromore’s opening goal when, with half an hour gone, two Dromore attackers eluded their markers to play a neat one-two across the circle leaving Carrick keeper Karen Nelson helpless to prevent the ball being hammered across the line.

Before that, Carrick’s Amy Cross just failed to connect with a neatly delivered Emma Nichols cross. After their opener, Dromore forced an excellent double save from Nelson.

Carrick were deservedly back on level terms seven minutes into the second half through Emma Nichols but they were powerless to prevent the visitors scoring the winning goal when a Dromore midfielder set off on run from just inside her own half, eluding four Carrick tackles before finding the net.

Carrick 1st XI squad: Cross, Curry, Gibb, Hall, Houston, McClurg, McIlroy, McWilliams, Nelson, Nichols, Oliver, Passmore, Poots, Waide.

Junior 4: Carrick’s Seconds defeated Belfast Harlequins 2-1 with goals from Erin McElvogue and Ashley McConnell.
