The match, played in horrendous weather conditions, saw Carrick’s pack dominate from the off and the visitors took an early lead thanks to a Luke Whitall penalty.

There was impressive forward play from Man of the Match Chris Rodgers and Ryan McGonigle, and Enniskillen put up little resistance.

Carrick’s opening try came from tighthead prop Michael Smylie. It went unconverted and Enniskillen replied with their only score of the game from a penalty.

In the second session, Carrick stepped things up a gear with further tries from Rodgers and McGonigle.

The weather conditions were particularly difficult for kickers and Whitall only managed one conversion.

As Carrick pushed for a bonus-point try, their efforts were cut short by two yellow cards, first to Ross Marsden and then Johnny Sherriff. As a result, the game petered out and both teams were happy to get out of the hail, rain and howling wind.

Carrick: McKinney, Wady, Cullen (c), Sherriff, Simpson, Whittall, Topping; Gibney, Hanna, Smylie, Kinkaid, Rodgers, Williams, Marsden, McGonigle. Replacements: Cambridge, Crymble.
