Castle survive early scare to win

IT was time for the girls of Ballycastle to get back to action after the cancelled match last week.

The girls travelled to Belfast to take on Malone.

Depending on other results a win could propel the 'Castle to the the top of the league.

However a sloppy start saw 'Castle easily give away possession and unable to get a grip of the game and after 13 minutes the home team went ahead. Suddenly realising the game was well underway Ballycastle clicked into gear and were soon level after a superb thunderous short corner strike from inform Niki O'Reilly. Now moving

up through the gears the girls in the black and gold were heaping the pressure on their opposition and before half time Niki O'Reilly completed her first hat trick for the club with two more superb short corners!

The second half started as the first had ended and O'Reilly continued her scoring run with yet another unstoppable short corner strike! Malone caught the away defence napping and finished neatly to cling on to the match. However excellent play in midfield from Maybin and McNeill kept the pressure mounting and a mazy run down the right flank and an inch perfect cross by Thompson found Dickson 10 yards out to calmly slot home. However it wasn't finished there, player of the match Niki O'Reilly was to have the last say, another run and pass by Thompson found the striker at the top of the circe, in one movement she dragged the ball inside the circle and released an unstoppable strike into the bottom corner. A slow start from the 'Castle girls but they showed their character and will to win. Another fantastic squad performance!
