Causeway Archers play host to Inter-Club championships

ON Saturday 25th August, Dunloy Cuchullains Sports Academy played host to what was probably the largest gathering of Archers the North of Ireland has ever seen.

The event was the N.I.A.S. 2012 Inter-Club Championships, hosted by the Ballymoney based club Causeway Archers.

This was the first time this particular competition has been run and was aimed at bringing more club level archers into the competition arena. There was an impressive line up of approx 110 archers making up teams from clubs all across the North.

The winning team from Ballyvally Archers Banbridge took gold medals home along with the now coveted cup which was sponsered by N.I.A.S.’s Trudi Moore & Causeway Archer’s Chris MacFadyen.

There was a fantastic atmosphere at the event with archers of all ages and abilities competing for top place, and with the handicap system designed by Causeway Archers everyone from beginners to ventrans could compete on a level footing and encompassing all styles of archery everyone stood the same chance of winning gold.

The host club Causeway Archers would like to thank everyone who helped to make this event such a success including Dunloy Cuchullains for the fantastic venue, Quicks Archery and targetcraft Archery for their sponsership, the N.I.A.S. for their continued support, the archers who came along and made this event what it was and not least its own members for their hard work and dedication.

This is an event that can only grow and Causeway Archers Chairperson Chris MacFadyen said he is looking forward to next year’s competition being bigger and better.

This type and size of event is a first for North Antrim but as the North Coast’s premier archery club Causeway Archers are determined that it won’t be the last.
