The team ranged from experienced players and those competing for the first time and the club is delighted to report that everyone did fantastically well at the events.

A host of medals are now returning to the club.

Competing against clubs from all over Ireland, the Ballymoney club’s members were able to use a host of skills to win contests by pin, submission and throws.

Alan Ashcroft, coach of the club said: “The preparation for the event went very well and between myself and the coaching expertise of Marshall Craig we made sure the competitors were able to have techniques in their skillset for any situation.

“Competing is very daunting, but I’m immensely proud of everyone that went to the event. A big note of recognition should go to Daithan Harrigan who in his first ever event was able to secure a gold medal.”

Judo is experiencing a great renaissance at the minute with the club seeing a big influx of new and returning members. In fact the sister club of Causeway Judo, Sonkei Judo in Ballycastle (coached by Mark Donald, himself a Causeway member) recently achieved a big medal haul in a recent Belfast event as well.

Anyone wanting to find out more about the club both at senior and junior level should pop down to the Leaney School on Tuesday night from 7pm.
