The match got off to a quick start; Causeway held most of the possession and used this to their advantage as goals were easily scored by Oonagh McCrossan and Joanne Lennox.

The Laganside defence was easily broken down by the attackers who used quick passing to ensure this early entry into their circle and end the first quarter on a 14-3 scoreline.

Stepping onto the court for the second quarter Laganside proved they weren’t going to give up without a fight, however the defence of Heather Quinn and Noelle Rea dealt capably with this progressive fight in the Laganside squad.

Strong centre passing from Brenda Boyle to Karla Cooke allowed the shooters to extend their lead to 20-13 by the end of the second quarter. At the risk of becoming complacent with their lead, the Causeway side settled their heads going into the third quarter but Laganside fought back and although loose balls were being picked up in mid court by Brenda Boyle and Maria Doherty which were fed into the goal third Laganside were capitalising on their chances ending the third quarter on a very tight 29-25 scoreline.
