Causeway Netball Club’s awards

Causeway Netball club senior annual awards presentation took place in Atlantis restaurant Kelly’s nightclub in May.

Club Chairperson Brenda Boyle opened the evening’s proceedings playing tribute to players on their achievements in the 2011/12 season. Awards were as follows:

First team player of the year – Anna Boyle

Second team Player of the year – Kellie Rose Clyde

Third team player of the year – Aimee McPolland

Young player of the year – Amy Moore

Most Improved player of the year – Catherine McLean

Club person of the year – Danielle Stewart

The Junior annual awards presentation (pictured) was held in Woodhall Youth residential centre following fun team-building activities. Awards were as follows:

U16 player of the year – Shannon McGothigan

U14 player of the year – Niamh McVeigh

Most improved junior player of the year – Danielle Graham

Meanwhile, Causeway Netball club yet again hosted a very successful mixed Netball tournament held in Our Lady of Lourdes High School in May.

This annual sporting event had teams from Joey Dunlop Leisure centre staff, representatives from Ballymoney United FC, Ballymoney Rugby club, Ballymena Rugby cub, Dunloy FC, Hockey and Basketball players making up the six teams.

The Hero’s made up of Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre staff finished joint 1st with Gillian & Co. on 12 points, which booked both teams a spot in the final.

This was an extremely skilful display of Netball from both sides and in the closing stages Hero’s, captained by Brenda Boyle, took the lead winning the overall tournament.
