Centenary celebrations

AS you all know by now, 2013 marks the Centenary of the Golf Club. There will be several things planned throughout the year. And there is one coming up on next Sunday March 17.

On that date, 100 years ago, the first game of golf was played over the Huntly Road links.

On next Sunday, at 1.15pm, the two captains, Declan Dooher and Robina McCandless, will make a grand entry to the club grounds. You remember how the Queen dropped into the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Well, it could be as memorable as that. All I’m saying is don’t miss it.

The Club Flag will then be hoisted and that will be followed by the Captain’s Drive-in. At 2.00pm, the Mixed Greensomes competition will commence.

Later in the evening, there will be a member’s sing-along, prize giving and music by Jack Daniels.

It all sounds like a lot of fun. See you there.
