Champions forfeit points in pool league title race

The defending champions did not fulfil last week’s scheduled fixture against bottom side Moat ‘B’ and the league committee has awarded the Harryville side a 6-0 default victory.

Connolly’s, the current league leaders, took full advantage of Inbetweeners’ inactivity as they claimed five points from their visit to Social Club, to extend their advantage at the top to seven points, with a game in hand.

Social Club 1, Connolly’s 5: Alan Davidson got the champions elect of to a great start with a 2-0 win over Ross Hill and Pat McAnally (jnr) increased the lead with a win in straight frames over Marc McMullan. Albert McBride pulled a game back for the Social Club with a 2-0 win over Pat McAnally(snr) to make the match score 2-1 for Connolly’s. This was as good as it got for the Social Club and Connolly’s reeled of the next three games, there was a brace of 2-0 wins for Ian Boal and Dee Irwin against Eddie Fleck and Alan Agnew and in the final game Don McKeown had a 2-1 win over Keith Agnew. Coach Bar 1, Fairhill Hustlers 5: The Hustlers got off to a perfect start with Glenn Mairs having a 2-1 win over David Carlisle and then Sean Brannigan registered the same score against Darren Gilmore. George McCullough made the match score 3-0 for the Hustlers with a come from behind 2-1 win over Chris Gordon. Fairhill also won the next two games in 2-0 scorelines through Rab Graham and Paul Hayes who defeated Robert Artt and Aidy Rouke. In the final game Frazer Young averted the white wash for the Coach with a 2-0 win over Richard Campbell. POM - Paul Hayes.

Fairhill Rockets 3, Michelin Masters 3: David Armstrong put Michelin ahead with a win in straight frames George Allen but Ian Dewar hit back to level the match score for the Rockets with a 2-1 win over Rick McMaster. Brian Hanna put Michelin ahead 2-1 in the match with a 2-0 win over Barry Kernohan. Billy Lowry levelled the match again with a 2-1 win over Alan Armstrong and then Allister Lowry put the Fairhill ahead in the match for the first time with a 2-0 win over Chris Penny. In the final game Jimmy Knowles sealed the draw for Michelin with a 2-1 win over Justin Kilpatrick. POM - Billy Lowry.

Towers Tavern 5, Moat A 1: James Millar put the Towers ahead with a fine 2-0 victory over Barry Weir and then Davy Millar increased the lead for the Towers with a 2-1 win over Jason McKay. Drew Sloan then made the match score 3-0 with a win in straight frames over Ryan Stewart. Alan Rainey replied for Moat with a 2-0 win over Shane Moody. The final two games went the same way as Towers won both 2-1 through K.D.Crabbe and Dean Greer who defeated Darren Campbell and David Nicholl.
