Champions sending out strong message

Minnesota Inbetweeners have laid down a marker to their would-be challengers in the opening weeks of the Ballymena Towers Pool League.

The defending champions produced a strong performance last week to defeat Fairhill Hustlers in Ahoghill.

Coach 2, Moat A 4: Michael Thompson got the Moat off to a good start with a 2-0 win over Frazer Young. In the next game Aidy Rouke levelled the match score with a 2-1 win over Barry Weir. Darren Campbell restored the lead for the Moat with a win in straight frames over Darren Gilmore. Alan Rainey made the match score 3-1 for the Moat with a 2-0 win over Malcolm Graffin.

David Carlisle pulled another game back for the Coach with a 2-0 win over Ryan Stewart. In the final game David Nicholl had a 2-0 win over Chris Gordon. POM - David Nicholl.

Fairhill Hustlers 1, Minnesota Inbetweeners 5: Gary Ormandy got the League Champions off to a great start with a win in straight frames over Justin Kilpatrick. Ritchie Irwin levelled the match score with a 2-0 win over Ryan Logan.

In the next two games the Inbetweeners players lost the first frame but both times they ran out 2-1 winners, their winners being Phil Houston and Craig Laughlin who defeated Rab Graham and Glenn Mairs. Gareth Rowe increased the lead for the Inbetweeners to 4-1 with a 2-1 win over Sean Brannigan. In the final game Dessie Cooper had a win in straight frames over George McCullough. Moat B 5, Social Club 1: Dean Robinson got the ball rolling for the Moat with a 2-0 win over May Barr. Steven Magill lost the first frame in the next match against Brian Boyd but Steven fought back to win 2-1 for the Moat.

In the third game Simon Kennedy had a 2-1 win over Marc McMullan and this left the match score at 3-0 for the Moat B. Albert McBride pulled a game back for the Social Club with a 2-0 win over William Wilson.

Adele Rutherford restored the 3 game lead for the Moat with a 2-1 win over Eddie Fleck. In the final game Daniel Magill had a win in straight frames over Ross Hill. POM - Adele Rutherford.

Towers Tavern 5, Fairhill Rockets 1: The Towers Tavern had a great start in this match and they won the first five games without dropping a single frame. Drew Sloan, Allister Law and James Millar put the Towers into a 3-0 match lead with 2-0 wins over Nigel McMaster, Barry Kernohan and Allister Lowry.

Shane Moody and Dean Greer had wins in straight frames over Gary Allen and Linzi McClelland to leave the match score at 5-0 for the Towers.

In the final game Ian Dewar had a 2-1 win over K.D. Crabbe to avoid the whitewash for the Rockets. POM - Ian Dewar.

The Michelin Masters v Connollys game was postponed and will be played at a later date.

LEAGUE MEETING

League meeting on Wednesday 11th November at 8pm in Michelin Club all outstanding fees to be paid.
