CHAMPIONSHIP 2: It's goals galore for Portstewart

Goals on the day came from Brian Tosh (2), Aaron Tosh, Rowan Neill and Andy McMullan, who grabbed his first for the Seasiders after signing from Coleraine Crusaders.

And Portstewart boss Gary Taylor was delighted with the display: "We played Institute last week, and it was a 0-0 draw, that was our first game. We did okay against them, they have some experienced players, we had a few chances, but it was good to get a few goals on Saturday."

Gary praised new signing Andy McMullan, who got his name on the scoresheet against Dunmurray: "Andy played two games and has been unlucky not to score. He scored a great header on Saturday. It's great to see him getting off the mark.

"He will certainly provide us with an extra threat up front," said the Portstewart boss.

And Andy isn't the only new boy this season - Veder White and Ali McAllister have come on board and Ryan McFadden and James Peden have re-signed.

"I am hoping to add in a few more, "admitted Gary.

"We struggled a bit last season with a small squad, and I don't want the same thing to happen this season."

Rasharkin are up next for the Ports tonight (Tuesday) in Dervock, then on Thursday night they will meet West Bann, before playing Riada on Saturday and Coleraine next Monday night.

Monday's night will see the official opening of the 200 seater stand at Portstewart's St John's Close ground.

The Mayor of Coleraine, Cllr Norman Hillis will conduct the opening ceremony at 7pm before the game kicks off at 7.30pm.

The will also be a challenge 5-a-side game at half time between two local special care schools.
