Championship boost as Derry GAA launch ‘Oakleaf TV’

Powered by Dartfish technology and released as part of a wider strategic initiative, the aim is to provide a weekly highlights package alongside a selection of full games from the local football and hurling club championships, as well as other aspects of the GAA in Derry.

Media rights will prohibit the channel from broadcasting inter-county league and championship games. However, interviews, reaction and other features will be part of the overall service.

Games will not be streamed live but it is hoped the footage described will be made available within a couple of days after each round of fixtures.

“The new service will enable us to bring the colour and excitement of our club games to a wider audience, both locally and overseas,” explained county PRO, Dermot McPeake.

“The aim is to provide a weekly highlights package alongside a selection of full games, across hurling and football. Whilst we would like to cover each game in full, the costs associated with it are prohibitive.

“The service will be free to view for the incoming club championship season. This is a voluntary effort and we are keen to get feedback from the public on the service in its first year and then revise the offering from there.”
