Charity competition at Islandderry

ISLANDDERRY Trout Anglers held a competition at Islandderry Fishery, Dromore on Saturday to raise money for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children.

The weather stayed fine and with pleney of fish, prizes, food and craic a great day was had by all. 

Heaviest bag of the day went to Belfast angler Paddy Brunty who took home the prizes for first place with his three fish brace of 10lb5 while Andy Simpson, Lisburn took second with three fish for 9lb12.

Third place went to Ballyclare angler Trevor McFadden with three fish for 9lb8. 

Although there were a lot of big fish hooked none of the anglers managed to land them which meant Sean Gibson, Belfast took the prizes for heaviest fish of the day with a lovely fish of 4lb4. 

The club and fishery would like to thank all who supported the competition with a subtotal of £1201.50 being raised for the chairity.  Special thanks goes out to Decor Trophies, Lurgan for donating all the trophies, Outdoor Experience, Portadown, Snowbee UK, Profly Ireland, Gary Bell APGAI, Angling Classics, G Lyttle and Laganside Tackle, Dunmurry for their kind donations for the prizes.
