The beautiful weather created a fantastic back drop to the record number of 264 cyclists who signed on and took advantage of pre ride coffees at Portglenone community centre.

The route this year was the same as last. This took the cyclists through Rasharkin, Ballymoney, and Bushmills to the north coast and from there to Portrush, Portstewart for refreshments and then to Coleraine and back to Portglenone.

The large turn out contained representatives from many clubs and none, but the credit for the club with most members signing on goes to Causeway CC who brought almost 50 of their members to the event.

The very professional way the local Club members carried out the marshalling of this event drew positive comments from many of those who took part. On the return the cyclists were met with a huge and inviting array of sandwiches, cakes, buns and biscuits to accompany the never ending cups of coffee and tea.

At the presentation to local Marie Curie fundraisers Mrs Ray Graham and Pauline McGoldrick, Mrs Graham passed on her heartfelt thanks for the great success of the charity run and to the 264 cyclists who turned out to raise an impressive £3,000.

All of this money goes to the charity as the event is funded by club members.

Bann Valley Road Club would also like to note the excellent and very professional work of the BVRC marshals who kept the group flowing safely through the junctions.

The Club gratefully thanks everyone who took part and helped in any way especially to those responsible for the tea and coffee before and after the event, The Rose Cafe and Pauline McGoldrick.

Thanks are also extended to the Byrne family for providing and driving the lead car and to our Club Sponsor M.Clarke and Sons for providing one of their vans for the role of support vehicle.

Finally the club appreciates the attendance of Neil Holmes and his collegues in the Order of Malta who provide the now essential medical cover.
