THE annual Marie Curie Perpetual Darts Cup will be held this Saturday.

This years event will be held in Faughanvale GAA Club grounds in Faughanvale, Greysteel village. There will be guaranteed prize money of £1,000 for Mens Individuals and Blind Pairs and an additional fund for Ladies Individuals and Blind Pairs.

Registration is at 2pm and the darts should be starting at 3pm sharp as a large crowd is expected as always.

Minimum sponsorship is £20 per person and this will entitle you to entering the singles and blind pairs and in the process supporting any additional funds to Marie Curie for such a worthy chosen cause.

Sponsor sheets are now available or pay on the day in registration a minimum of £20. Presentations and Music will follow in the evening as part of this popular day of darts and charity.

Meanwhile tomorrow night’s fixtures in the Eglinton and District Darts League sponsored by The Depot, sees John Ts take on Macons; The Vale host Drummond Hotel; Calablanca entertain Rising Sun A; Eglinton CC B face Eglinton CC A; Donaghys B come up against Longfield A; Longfield B face The Depot and Donaghys A visit Happy Landing.

While the rearranged fixture between Rising Sun A from Thursday, February 14, will now be played this Monday.

Some re-arranged games have yet to be confirmed if and when they are to played this will be left to the teams involved

unless the league Chairman needs to make a decision if rules are not applied too.

While last Thursday night the usual standard was on show across the league now coming into the final run of league games

with many points still to fight for from top to bottom for final league positions.

There were two recorded 180 maximums last Thursday night from Raymond O’Hara (Rising Sun B) and Keith Darby (Macons). The week previous Donaghys A player Paddy McGinnis showed his talent with a 180 maximum.

The highest checkout of the week was from Ronan McKinney (Rising Sun B) with a solid 135 finish on the bullseye. In the same match The Depots Mickey Moore finished solidly on 114 and his team mate Lee McIlroy on a fine 113 checkout.

Other good came from Mark Duncan (The Depot) 82; James Bonham (Calablanca) 72; Sean O’Hara (John Ts) 72; Eamon Duffy (The Depot) 58; Nigel Moore (Rising Sun B) ; Ronan McKinney (Rising Sun B) 50.

The week previous the up and coming talent in the youthful Jordan Moore who is learning the trade with Rising Sun B shot out a solid 116 finish to show his talent is increasing with time and practice.

The best recorded leg of darts of the week came from Alan Donaghey 9Donaghys B) with 19 darts closely followed by a 20 dart leg.
