On Saturday October 4 over a dozen members including many of the ladies went to the Christian Aid Strangford Sportive starting from Delamont Country Park and taking a scenic 70 mile route including Downpatrick and Strangford.

The conditions were very chilly and a strong winds through a tough and hilly course. The rough back roads resulted in many punctures and saw Captain Phil Dreaning assisting in numerous repairs. The squad completed the route in good times and all enhoyed the BBQ at the end.

On Sunday October 5 the annual 55 mile Action Mental Health Granite Challenge took place from Downpatrick. The club had a dozen members out with many of them cycling over from Dromore to make it a 100 mile route. One of those who cycled from Dromore was Andrea Cunningham who the previous day had completed the gruelling 12 mile ‘Tough Mudder’ event in Dublin. Gail Martin also joined in Downpatrick.

The club girls showed great physical fitness and determination at all these events.

Thanks to both event organisers and well done to all the members for taking part.

Dromore CC continue their runs over winter and leave the Square at 6.30pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (ladies night) and Friday and also on Sundays from 9am. Check the website for further details http://www.dromorecc.com/
