Charity is winner all the way

Not only was there some quality darts but a fantastic sum of £726 was raised which has brought the Institute Club total up to £4600 for Merryn Lacy and her fight against Neuroblastoma.

After first negotiating the tricky group format, quality began to shine through and the standard of darts improved as the day went on.

The eventual winner of the Jubilee Cup was Kyle McKinstry from Dungannon. Congratulations also to this years runner up, local player Shane Lennon. Both players served up a great final of high scores and low darts and it was only fitting that it went to a last leg decider with Kyle coming out a 5-4 winner.

Beaten group finalists: Gordon Jackson, Bertie Monaghan, Ally Wilson and Dylan Woolsey. Dylan also was awarded the highest checkout award for his excellent 160 (treble 20, treble 20, double 20) checkout early on in the day.

As with every year the Jubilee Cup would not happen without sponsors and volunteers. Institute captain Jamie Serplus said, “Sincere thanks to everyone who attended and helped in any way. The bar staff and Institute for their hard work throughout the day.

“For the kind donations and those behind the scenes that make the day happen, our dart board suppliers and printers at The Beautiful Game Lurgan.”
