Chloe named Grammar hockey captain

Sixteen-year-old Chloe who, in spite of her youth, is already a highly thought of and firmly established first-team player at Carrick Ladies Hockey Club .

“Last year it was another of our first team squad, Sophie Mills, who captained the Carrick Grammar first team,” said Carrick Ladies’ president Peter Stevenson, “and nobody at the club is at all surprised to hear that Chloe has succeeded her this year.

“We can’t honestly speak highly enough of Chloe. Like so many of our current top young players, she is a product of our Junior Club programme.

“And not only has Chloe taken on the role of captaining her school first team this season, she has also been selected within Carrick Ladies as vice-captain of our own first team squad in support of our new captain, Christine Waide.”

Chloe was voted Player of the Tournament by her coaches when she was part of last season’s championship winning North-Eastern Board Under-17 girls hockey squad, and she was also called up to the Ulster Under-17 squad which travelled England at the end of the season.

“All of these honours already underline her excellent hockey playing skills,” added Peter.
