Christmas shoots brought to a conclusion

THE festive period of shooting held at Rathfriland Clay Pigeon Club was brought to a close with another 20-bird DTL event, which took place on New Year’s Day.

Yet with the New Year bedding in, shooters were slow to arrive at the ground; the slow start proving a frustration for those who had arrived early.

Nonetheless, the day saw a total of 27 lines, which is a great result for such a busy time of year.

The shooting appeared to be below par, too. Dull conditions and an unpredictable wind meant for tricky targets, and in the end there was only one shooter able to hit the magic 20/60.

Noel Lyndsay was head and shoulders above the rest who just could not match his perfect score. There were however, several shooters who fell at the final hurdle, shooting 20/59, meaning a shoot-off for second place.

The 59 shooters included Rathfriland’s Hugh Ervine, William Robinson, George Gracey, and Bobby Tate and M Tate. It took two separate lines of twenty targets to determine the final places, which were as follows;

1st, Noel Lindsay; 2nd, Hugh Ervine; 3rd, Bobby Tate; 4th, George Gracey.

Once again the club would like to thank all those who attended each event over the Christmas period, and shooters are encouraged to keep an eye out for the next shoot held at Rathfriland.

The club would also like to wish its shooters a happy and prosperous New Year.
