Christopher remembered

Christopher McCloskey was killed in a road accident when coming out of Rathmore Grammar School following completion of GCE examinations.

But his memory lives on through a special bowling tournament organised by St Clare’s Bowling Club.

The second annual junior competition for the Christopher McCloskey Memorial Cup has been completed with classes, P6 and P7 from Ballymacrickett Primary School invited to take part and the school hosted the practice sessions and the final.

The event was a great success with the young people, advised by their more senior mentors, showing great concentration and determination to get the best shots.

At the finish there was one outright winner of the competition and three children tying on second place.

A play-off was held to distinguish final placings and the results were: 1 and Christopher McCloskey Memorial Cup, M. Moran; 2 and silver medal, T. Wilkinson; 3 and bronze medal, R. Walsh.

Christopher was a member of the St Clare’s club from around six-years-old and his grandparents, Moyna and Sam McAreavey are club members.
