The Squad kumite/sparring sessions are being coached by Steven Surgeoner assisted by Fintan Neeson. Both men have represented Northern Ireland at International level over long and distinguished karate careers. Chief Coach Sensei Dan Redmond told Times Sport that the Squad will benefit much from these experienced kumite coaches.

Dan will coach the Kata training. He has much experience in this area having represented Northern Ireland at international level. Two years ago Dan was placed a credible fourth in the prestigious UMA Championships in England. His performance was highlighted further as he was placed alongside two World Kata champions and a European silver medallist and he is looking forward to passing his experience on to the young squad.
