Although the Judges Road men sit 16 points clear at the top of the table, McMaster isn’t taking anything for granted and is wary about this weekend’s trip to County Wicklow.

“I’m a school teacher and I’m OK at numeracy and you just need to look at the number of games we have left, which is six and if we lost all of them then it’s not in our hands,” he said.

“We have six games remaining and the only way we could have won the league by now is if we were 30 points clear at the top and we aren’t.”

Earlier in the season at home McMaster’s side had a narrow 20-17 win over Greystones and because of that he’s expecting another tough game on Saturday.

“Apart from Highfield beating us the closest that any team ran us was Greystones, so they are going to be a handful,” he added.

“It was a one score game at Judges Road earlier in the season, so aren’t going to be taking them lightly at all.

“To have to go down to County Wicklow and if we can come away with anything we’ll be delighted.

“They are up to fourth in the team now, so they are going for a top four spot and they are going to take confidence from the fact that they ran us to a one score game.

“They were probably the best back-line that we have come up against, they have a back-line that matched us for pace and we’ll be very wary of them.”

Duo Richard McCarter and David Funston are expected to return to the squad.
