City continued to dominate in the second half, driven by their central midfield partnership of Frank McCabe and Peadar Lynch, and went two up when Lynch converted a penalty which had been won by the impressive Canning.

David Carragher then headed in another Canning cross before Patterson scored his second of the day to make it four.

Cloney then pulled one back only for City to add three further goals with substitute Eemann Bates finishing well twice and Eoin Fleming scoring a rocket of a header from a Bates corner.

Cloney then added a second from the penalty spot.

Best on the day for City were wingers Stephen Canning and Michael Carson who tortured the Cloney defence throughout.
