Clady anglers looking forward to new season

Clady & District Angling Club held its annual general meeting in the Hawthorn Inn, Portglenone recently.

Special guest speaker for the function was Robbie Marshall, of the Ulster Angling Federation.

The chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting, and the minutes of the previous AGM were read and accepted.

The chairman reported on the successful 2014 fishing season and the various work projects that had been completed throughout the season.

This was followed by treasurer and competition secretary reports.

Special thanks were made to all committee and club members who carried out much work along the river in 2014 especially those who were instrumental in maintaining the club house grounds.

The re-election of office bearers was carried out by Davy Gordon and this saw all out going office bearers re-elected. The committee was re-elected en-bloc.

The meeting was closed by the chairman wishing all anglers a successful 2015 fishing season.

It should be noted that DCAL legislation regarding the catch and release policy on salmon fishing is still currently in place for the 2015 season.

Our annual Prize giving and dinner dance was held in the Manor, Kilrea on 13th February which was really well attended by club members, family and friends.

The club is holding a fishing tackle auction in the Hawthorn Inn on Sat 21st February.

All items to be booked in by 10.30am, auction commences 11am and hot food will be available.

The club is also holding a draw - top prize; two afternoon rods on the Carnroe beat, River Bann - tickets are available from any club member and with the draw not being held until 31st March there is still plenty of time to buy a ticket and support the club.

All club members please note that 2015 permits will be issued from the club on both the 28th February and 7th March from 10.30am to 1pm.

The first competition of the season also takes place on the 7th March starting 11am.
