Clann Eireann make history

CLANN Éireann recently created a little piece of history by becoming the first club in the county to have achieved success in both the boy’s and girl’s Féile competitions in the same year.

The Féile is a prestigious competition which brings together all of the County Champions at Under 14 level in the country including a number of international teams in what is a magnificent festival of football and a celebration of all that is good about the GAA.

It is an opportunity for the boys and girls of Clann Éireann to experience this wonderful occasion and to compete against some of the best teams in the country in their grade.

This year the event takes place between Friday, June 22, and Sunday, June 24, and is being co-hosted by counties Laois and Offaly.

While the Féile weekend represents a wonderful opportunity for this group of young people it also presents a number of challenges in particular with regard to financing the project within a short space of time.

With this in mind the club has already begun the process of raising the required funds and a number of events are currently being organised to assist with this.

Following last year’s memorable Championship Debate Night another event is being planned ahead of this year’s championship tussle between Armagh and near neighbours and arch rivals Tyrone.

On Wednesday, June 6, an impressive line up comprising of top referee Pat Mc Eneaney, RTE analyst, Joe Brolly, TG4 commentator and analyst, Conal Martin, All Ireland club and county winner John Mc Entee and Tyrone MLA Barry McIlduff will give their views on a range of GAA matters including the upcoming championship.

Former Armagh captain Jimmy Smith will be asking the questions and an entertaining night is guaranteed.

Tickets for the event cost £10 are available from the social club or by contacting Brian on 07912 644 883.

The club would also like to thank all of those individuals and businesses who have contributed generously to the Féile fund to date and would greatly welcome further assistance.
