Clash between Ballee club-mates ends in stalemate

The first meeting between two Ballee teams in the Ballymena Towers Pool League ended in stalemate last week.

But it will certainly be the Black Ballers who will feel more content after coming from three games down to draw 3-3 with their Rollers club-mates.

At the top of the table, a 3-3 draw between the ‘Big Two’ of Michelin Masters and Connolly’s ‘B’ has allowed Diamond Dazzlers to nip above them at the summit.

Ballee Black Ballers 3, Ballee Rollers 3: Rollers raced into a 3-0 lead, their first winner was Colin McCaughern who had a 2-0 win over Dean Robinson.

Dean Greer had to come from one down to defeat Craig Young by a 2-1 scoreline while Shane Hillis defeated Lewis Boyd by a 2-1 scoreline to leave the match score of 3-0 for the Rollers.

Neil Weir kick-started Black Ballers’ revival going when he beat Stefan Armstrong by a 2-1 scoreline.

Jimmy Barr made it 3-2 when he defeated Aaron Browne in straight frames and in the final game Paul Smyth beat Frazer Young also in straight frames to complete the comeback. POM - Paul Smyth.

Social Club 3, Fairhill Dreamers 3: The home team won the first match through Marc McMullan but back came the Dreamers through Sean Brannigan and the visitors went in front through Glenn Mairs who also had a win in straight frames over Ross Hill.

Social Club levelled the match when Albert McBride had a win in straight frames over Ricky Allen but the lead went back to the Dreamers when Steven French beat Dennis Keenan by a 2-0 score. In the final game the dependable Brian Boyd sealed the draw when he defeated Patrick Gaher in straight frames. POM - Brian Boyd.

Connolly’s A 1, Coach Bar 5: The away team won the first game through Davy Carlisle who had a 2-0 win over Sean Donnelly but Connolly’s came straight back to level the match when Johnny Walker beat Darren Gilmore by a 2-0 scoreline.

Davy Gillespie put the Coach into the lead when he beat Peter Kyle also by a 2-0 scoreline and the Galgorm Street side kept the momentum going with further wins from Raymond Lynn, Jimmy Gillespie and KD Crabbe. POM - Jimmy Gillespie.

Michelin Masters 3, Connolly’s B 3: Connolly’s raced into a 3-0 lead there first winner being Alan Davidson who was one frame down against Drew Sloan but fought back to win 2-1. Brett McLaughlin was also one down against Jimmy Knowles and he also fought back to win 2-1 and when Pat McAnally made it 3-0 to Connolly’s with a win in straight frames over David Armstrong it looked like a heavy defeat was on the cards for Michelin. But the tables turned as Rick McMaster defeated Owen Butler by a 2-1 scoreline and then Alan Armstrong defeated Ryan Foster in straight frames. In the final game Alan Rainey lost out in the first frame to Dean Dunlop but he came back to win 2-1 and salvage the draw. POM - Alan Armstrong.

Fairhill Hustlers 5, Diamond Duffers 1: The away team took the lead through Liam O’Kane but that proved the only bright spot for Diamond.

Ritchie Irwin had a win in straight frames over Kyle Lennox and in game three Robert Graham defeated Ian McMaster by a 2-1 scoreline after he had lost the first frame. Richard Campbell also lost the first frame against Steven Anderson but fought back to win the next two. Paul Hayes defeated Jarlath Downey in straight frames and Robert Hargan defeated Jason Olgivy 2-1. POM - Robert Hargan.

Diamond Dazzlers 5, Michelin Inbetweeners 1: Robert Artt drew first blood for Diamond and the Ahoghill side raced into a 5-0 lead thanks to further wins from Brendan O’Mullan, Chris Gordon, Ian Boal and Adrian Rourke before Phil Houston averted the whitewash for MIchelin in the final game.
