Clean sweep for Bann senior team in Des Gregg Memorial Cup

The Banbridge seniors team, captained by Sydney Pepper, played the second leg of their first round match in the Des Gregg Memorial Cup, last Monday.

They had come away from Killymoon the previous Tuesday with the match all-square, at 2-2.

Banbridge were in a strong position going into the second leg.

Peter Hillen and Sydney Pepper beat Norman Weir and Gerry Breslin 2 and 1.

Bobby Geddis and Seamus McGrath beat Trevor Crooks and Paddy Dargan 2 and 1.

Dennis Lockhart and Verdun Bond beat Tom Doonan and Jack Moore 4 and 2.

Tom Fee and Norman Doak beat Alan McCormick and Stuart Gillis 3 and 2.

It was a clean sweep for the Banbridge team and they won the match overall by 6 points to 2.

Their opponents in round two will be either Portadown or Silverwood.

The excitement is slowly building.

Ian and Bea Boyce won the club mixed foursomes competition last Friday evening.

They had 21 points for the nine holes played, one more than Yvonne Galloway and Alex Clarke.

The next mixed foursomes competition is on Friday the 10th of June.
