Clement is full of praise for Templepatrick

MORE than 80 members and guests enjoyed Templepatrick Cricket Club's annual dinner and awards night at The Cloughan, Ballyclare on Saturday.

Guest speaker Andy Clement, the NCU's Director of Cricket Development, praised the club for being proactive in bringing forward new initiatives to promote the game of cricket in the local area, highlighting the incredible success of the youth coaching structure led by Andy McCrea.

Pointing to the fact that the hard work and dedication of the club's 10 qualified coaches is paying off, he congratulated youth team players Jay Hunter, David Gibson, Daniel McFadden and Ross Bryans on earning representative honours during the past season.

The award winners on the night were: First XI - Artie Campbell (Best Batsman), Robert Smith (Best Bowler) and Simon Beattie (Captain's Player of the Year); Second XI - Andy McCrea (Best Batsman), Ian Webber (Best Bowler) and Peter Shepherd (Captain's Player of the Year); Third XI - Peter Shepherd (Best Batsman), Ian Webber (Best Bowler), Stephen Fettis (Captain's Player of the Year); Jay Hunter (Young Player of the Year); Simon Beattie (Players' Player of the Year and Most Improved Player of the Year); Under 15 - Jordan Carlisle (Best Bowler), Jay Hunter (Best Batsman); Under 13 Player of the Year - Ryan McCabery; Under 11 Player of the Year - Jonathan Ramsay. Special awards were also presented to Andy McCrea and Stephen Boyd (250+ First XI appearances) and Artie Campbell and Raymond Conlan (300+ First XI appearances).

Having implemented 100,000 worth of ground improvements this year, with assistance from Sport NI and the Old Ballyclarians Association, Templepatrick Cricket Club is looking forward to a successful season in 2011.
