Cliftonville's unbeaten run comes to an end

CLIFTONVILLE'S unbeaten start to the 2010 campaign came to an abrupt end on Sunday as visitors Holywood romped to a convincing seven wicket victory.

Having won the toss, Cliftonville's decision to bat backfired as opener Cahill was an early casualty in the first over. Munn and Whitten put on 27 for the second wicket before Holywood opening bowler Kennedy ripped the heart out of Cliftonville's top order, ending with match figures of 5-20. Chris Whitten (25) and Davy Menaul (22) were the only Cliftonville batsmen to reach double figures. They were finally all out for 79 in the 32nd over.

Holywood were never going to have any difficulty knocking off the runs with their batting line up and so it proved with victory confirmed with the loss of only three wickets and 24 overs to spare.
