Club holds AGM

The 2012 Sports Club of the year, Coleraine Judo Club, report a successful AGM where the club’s constitution was ratified and Committee positions filled.

The Club Chairman and Head Coach continues to be Dr Richard Briggs and a new position of Performance Coach was filled by Gary Jackson who, although being relatively new to Coleraine, has many years’ experience judo coaching across the water in England. Club Coaches include Philip Duncan and Rebecca Cuckoo, while Peter Cuckoo remains Honorary Club Secretary and Welfare Officer.

Other Committee members include Mark Woodall (Merchandise), Paul Price (Competitions) Phil Barnett and Dr Charles Jack (Medical). The club is taking a two week Easter break and training will resume on Friday 12 April.

Those interested in taking up this exciting Olympic combat sport for competition, exercise or just fun should note that the club is running a five week adult (age 14+) beginner class for men and women commencing Friday 19 April 8:30-9:30 in the Leisure Centre. The coach will be the Club’s Performance Coach Gary Jackson 2nd Dan and the course fee is a modest £15. Readers interested should enquire at the Leisure Centre soon as numbers will be limited.
