Coleraine Anglers’ Association hold AGM

The members present were informed that the club is in a healthy financial position and that membership was full last year. However some new members should be accepted this current season.

The secretary gave a summary of the club activities in 2011. Dunalis Reservoir enjoyed another good season. Weather conditions were not ideal for much of the season but the regular anglers did well with some excellent trout caught.

The members can look forward to further good season and hopefully there will be even more overwintered trout this year following the milder winter. The association plan to stock £3000 of fish again this year. The club held a successful barbecue and competition in conjunction with North West Gun Club.

This day in June also included displays and activities. A total of £600 was raised and donated to the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).

The trophies for the competitions throughout 2011 were presented. The club champion was Robert Armstrong. Best junior for the season was Harry Simpson and the winner of the Seniors’ Trophy was Sam Irwin.

A new committee and office bearers were elected. The chairman will once again be David Harkness, Alan Morrow remains as treasurer and Mark Henderson was re-elected as secretary.

The main business of the evening involved the decision of the Association to form a company limited by guarantee. Several other angling clubs have gone down this route already.

The members will notice no significant difference as the changes are largely administrative. It is likely to be a few months before the changes are finalised and members will be informed in a newsletter.

Members are asked to note that there will be a work party at Dunalis on Saturday 19th and Saturday 26 February from around 10am. Any member is more than welcome to help on these days.
