Coleraine Darts League: Villa are just gr-eight

VILLA A are still unbeaten in the Coleraine and District Darts league as they kept the pressure on Villa Swifts with an emphatic 8-0 win over the Tavern who are still looking for their first points of the season.

Throwing first for Villa was D McGregor (2x100) followed by D Morrow (100,21darts) and J McGarry (2x100) to put Villa 3-0 up and firmly in control. F Kelly (2x100) beat T Kelly (100) before a solid performance from M Barr(2x100,140,117,16 darts) beating S Patterson (100) put Villa 5-0 up to secure the points.

K Gibson (100), D Kennedy Snr (100,122) and P Moffitt went on to win the final three games and give Villa an excellent 8-0 win.

Villa Swifts continued their good form with another impressive win against Sperrin to keep them at the top of the league table.

GG McKay (121,100) got the Swifts started with a good win over W Bell (125,100,120) followed by D Toner(2x100) getting the better of S Scott (125,100) and G Dallas (121,3x100,19 darts) throwing well to beat B Robertson(100,140) to give the Swifts a 3-0 advantage.

D Norton (2x100) soon made it 4-0 beating N McVey (100) before an excellent Davy Glenn (123,2x100,2x140,17&19 darts) quickly made it 5-0 to give Swifts the win. D McNeill (100) won the next game for Sperrin beating B Kennedy (133) but the Swifts went on to win the final two games through D Moffat then C Scott (121,2x100) who got the better of B McNeill (4x100) in a tight match.

After last weeks drubbing to the Swifts, Finn McCool's needed a win against a resilliant Floyd's team if they were to keep pace with the leaders. Up first for Finns was R McKeown (3x100,140) winning his game against E Gibson(133,121,100) to put the visitors 1-0 up.

S Collins (125,100) won the next game beating J McGowan (2x100) to level the game. Finns won the next three games to give them a 4-1 lead, R Patton (2x100,121) beat S McNeill (2x100), J Elliott (121,2x100) beat D Collins (2x100) and G Keys (3x100) beat A Mulholland (100).

Floyd's pulled one back when J Johnston (3x100) beat N Patton (3x100) to give them a chance of a draw but their hopes were short lived when R McMullan (2x140,2x100) beat W Bradley (140,100) to secure the points for Finns. S Greer (2x100,121,140) wrapped the game up for Finns beating R Riley (133,100,121).

RBL who were missing some key players hosted Floyd's A with both teams in need of a win to keep in touch with the leaders.

It was Floyd's who came out on top with T Cauley (105,100) winning the first game for the visitors followed by W Stirling (3x100) beating R Millar (3x100) to give them a 2-0 lead. B McLaughlin (2x140,3x100,2x18 darts) threw brilliantly to pull one back for the hosts beating A McBride (140) but A Allen (3x100,180) quickly restored Floyd's advantage making it 3-1 to the visitors.

R Watt (140,100) beat J Kane (135) to make it 4-1 before H Stirling (3x100) beat R Riley (3x100,123) to give RBL hope of a draw. But this was soon dashed as T Thompson (125,100) won the next game to make it 5-2 and give Floyd's the win. J McLaughlin (2x140,2x100) won the final game for RBL beating G Stirling (125,100).

Temple, also looking for their first points, hosted Bertha's and found themselves trailing 1-0 very quickly as W Kane(2x100,125) won the first game for the visitors.

G Friel (2x100) levelled the game for Temple beating T Sinclair (100), D Bowman (120) beat N Moore (2x140) to put Bertha's back in front and O McLaughlin (100,137,125) extended their lead.

M Morrow (138,121) however got the better of E Guyler (3x100,123) followed by S McCarron (123,2x100,21darts) beating I Sinclair (135) to level the score once more. Up next for Bertha's was the ever reliable R Elliott (2x100) winning his game against C Hutchson (119) to give Bertha's the advantage, I Patterson (100) then stepped up to win his game and give Bertha's the points.

No scoresheet was returned for the Railway Arms v Kelly's Inn game.

The league would like to offer their sincere condolences to the family of Gerald Dallas who's father sadly passed away this week.
