Coleraine hosts British Isles competition

The Irish Indoor Bowling Association are hosting the annual British Isles Short Mat Bowling Championships in Coleraine Leisure Centre on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th November.

The championships were last held in Coleraine in 2008. The event comprises a team championship, featuring Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales, and individual championships for singles, pairs, triples and rinks. Ireland have an outstanding record in the team event. Local interest will focus on the individual fours competition were Ireland are represented by a rink from Dunluce Parish skipped by Uel McKeeman.

Bowling enthusiasts are encouraged to support what is a real festival of bowling, with play commencing each day at 10am. The opening ceremony, with a march on of the competing nations takes place at 9.30am on Friday.
