Coleraine Inst see off neighbours Dalriada
The visitors struck first as they knocked over the simple kick in front of the posts after an infringement at a ruck.
CAI struck back almost immediately as Calum Smith levelled the score with a well struck penalty on 20 minutes.

Hide AdSmith extended the lead two minutes later with another well struck penalty five metres in from the touch line.
CAI started the half much brighter showing their dominance at break down through great work from Peter Bonnar, Alastair Corbett and Daniel McAllister.
Despite controlling the game CAI didn’t extend their lead until the 45th minute.
Calum Smith timed his run perfectly and exploded through a gap on the Dalriada blind side 50m out. It looked like Smith had scored a spectacular try but a despairing tackle prevented the impressive fly half from scoring.

Hide AdAfter this tackle Smith showed great presence of mind to pop the ball up to the ever present captain fantastic, Peter Bonnar, to score in the corner. Smith added the extra points.
Dalriada kept going though and with five minutes to go they scored a well-worked try and added the extras. to leave it 13-10.
CAI replied immediately with an excellent try from Matthew ‘skippy’ Norris.
The big centre showed a mixture of strength, pace and foot work that wouldn’t have looked out of place on Strictly Come Dancing to score an excellent individual try under the posts.
Calum Smith added the extra points.

Hide AdThe second XV, who were by no means at their best, ran out 43-0 winners.
The Thirds put in a good performance to in their 37-10 victory. The defence was much improved, but there is still plenty to work on in training, if a successful cup run is to be enjoyed.
